"The creation of new objects, the transformation of known objects, the change of matter for certain other objects, the association of words with images, the putting to work of ideas suggested by friends, the utilization of certain scenes from half-waking of dream states - all were means employed with a view to make the objects become stunning and sensational [...] Titles are chosen to avoid the collocation of my pictures in the reassuring region where the automatic development of thought could place them, in order to underrate their strength and potential. Titles must be an additional protection, aimed at discouraging whichever attempt to reduce the true poetry to a game without consequences.".
